Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) is mourning the death of one of its members who was shot dead this morning at his home in Hilltop, near Trenance Park, outside Durban, KZN.

The Witness reports that, according to Rusa, the 26-year-old man was found unresponsive by his neighbours, who heard gunshots just after 09:30.

“Paramedics discovered that he had been shot in the head execution style in his yard. He was still in possession of his valuables, and there was no sign that the shooter had entered his residence,” says Prem Balram, Rusa spokesperson.

The officer was found lying in a pool of blood by neighbours.

Balram says a spent 9mm cartridge was recovered at the scene.

“It cannot be confirmed if the execution is linked to multiple death threats received from criminals arrested by reaction officers,” says Balram.
