3 men to stand trial in Mossel Bay for 2023 murder

Three young men accused of killing Chivago Fillies in Mossel Bay last June will stand trial in March next year.

The murder trial for three men accused of attacking and killing 31-year-old Chivago Fillies in June last year has been set for the Mossel Bay Regional Court in March next year.

Mossel Bay Advertiser reports that Fillies, a resident of Extension 13, Mossel Bay, was attacked in Grunter Street in the early hours of June 29.

He was beaten and hit over the head several times with a wooden pole. He died in hospital as a result of his injuries the following day.

The three accused – Jemandry Braaff (20), Aubrey-Junior Nickleo Mentoor (19) and Ushere Apdol (19) – were arrested on the day of Fillies’ death and charged with his murder.

They were granted bail of R2 000 each in July last year.

The three appeared in the Mossel Bay Regional Court yesterday morning, when their trial date was set.

The murder trial is expected to take place from March 23 to 25 next year. Their bail has been extended until the scheduled date of their court appearance.
