KZN police hunt suspects after man gunned down in his sleep
Police have intensified investigations and appeal for assistance to locate the suspects after a Shallcross man was shot dead in his sleep.
Police in Chatsworth, KZN, have intensified investigations to locate the suspects responsible for the brazen murder of a Shallcross man who was killed in a hail of bullets while asleep in his home yesterday.
Rising Sun reports that Chatsworth SAPS communications officer Captain Cheryl Pillay confirmed police are investigating a murder that occurred in Taurus Street, Shallcross.
“It is alleged that on July 14 at approximately 01:00, a 40-year-old male was asleep at his home when armed suspects entered. The victim was shot multiple times and passed away. Police have intensified investigations. The motive is unknown at this stage,” Pillay said.
Reverend Ethan Ramkuar of the Survival Centre NPO said he and others in the community are ‘sick and tired’ of ongoing gangsterism, drugs and murders, with ‘no one being held accountable’.
“Where is the law enforcement, where is the independent National Prosecuting Authority? We are now approaching the Office of the Public Protector to hold the officials accountable for bringing about justice. Shallcross has been decaying under the watch of the current political leaders and officials. We are calling for change in our communities – enough is enough,” said Ramkuar.
Anyone who can assist police with investigations is urged to contact Lieutenant Colonel Sanjeev Singh on 082 556 8719 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
