Witness account

A witness, Eltrise Baadjies from Pacaltsdorp, said he was chatting to a friend when his friend suddenly asked: “What is wrong with that airplane?”

“I looked up and saw an airplane going down to the ground,” said Baadjies.

He said he initially thought it was a passenger plane, but later saw photos on social media showing it was a small aircraft.

“I called the Thembalethu police and was told an aircraft had made an emergency landing. I am happy that no one was seriously hurt,” he said.
