Couple found dead in Meyerton home

Neighbours of the couple told police that they last saw the couple a week before their bodies were discovered.

Two people were found dead in a Meyerton home on Thursday night (September 11). The victims, a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, were discovered at a property in Extension 5, Silahliwe Sicelo.

Vaalweekblad reports that police were called to the scene around 20:15 following a report of a possible suicide. Upon arrival, officers found the man deceased, hanging from the roof, and the woman lying on the floor with head injuries. A blood-stained hammer was found near her body.

Neighbours told police the couple were last seen on Sunday, September 7.

Ambulance services declared both deceased on arrival, and their bodies were taken to Sebokeng FPS Mortuary.

Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, spokesperson for Meyerton Police, confirmed the case is being investigated as a murder and an inquest.
