2 children murdered: Teen cousin arrested in Chatsworth

Two children, aged five and 12, were found unresponsive under a bed in KZN.

Chatsworth, KZN, police have arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with the murder his cousins, aged five and 12.

Rising Sun reports that the communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Captian Cheryl Pillay, confirmed the arrest.

“On September 27, Chatsworth police responded to a murder scene in Welbedacht East. It is alleged that the children, aged five and 12, were in the care of their aunt. The aunt left the children in the care of her son before proceeding to work.

“Upon returning home that evening, she discovered that both children were missing. After conducting a search, the family found the children under the bed, unresponsive,” she says.

During the early hours of Sunday morning, police arrested one suspect, aged 18, who was responsible for the children at the time of their deaths.

The suspect will appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court in due course on two counts of murder.
