Policewoman sexually assaults son: Jailed by Middelburg court
A Limpopo policewoman will spend eight years in jail for sexually assaulting her son.
A policewoman has been sentenced to an effective eight years’ imprisonment after she was found guilty of sexually assaulting her son and possession of child pornography.
“The accused officer was seen in a video that went viral in 2023, having sexual intercourse with her son, who was 12 years old at the time,” says Lizzy Suping, spokesperson of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
Lowvelder reports that, after the video went viral, Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant Thembi Radebe ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
“A case of rape of a minor child with additional charges of creating and distributing child pornography and sexual grooming of a child was opened on January 20, 2023, and the suspect was arrested on the same day,” said then Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, at the time.
The Limpopo police officer (42) was sentenced in the Middelburg Regional Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to three sex-related offences. The accused entered into a plea bargain with the state and the count of rape was reduced to sexual assault instead.
She was sentenced to 10 years for count one, sexual assault; but the court suspended two years of the sentence. The court additionally sentenced the woman to two years’ imprisonment on the second count of production of child pornography and another two years for possession of child pornography.
Suping says the IPID welcomes the sentence handed down to the police officer.
