Man expected in court after family attacked in fatal Thembisa house robbery

A father was killed and his wife and son were injured when four men used an axe to break into their home.

Gauteng police have arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with a house robbery and murder in Maokeng Extension, Thembisa.

According to Kempton Express, the suspect was arrested yesterday following a police investigation that tracked him to his home.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Colonel Demakatso Nevhuhulwi says more arrests are expected as investigations continue.

The man is expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Family attacked in early hours

According to Nevhuhulwi, a case of house robbery and murder was opened after a family of three was attacked at their home in the early hours of yesterday.

“It is reported that four suspects forcefully entered the house using an axe. The husband was shot and killed, while the wife and son were assaulted. The suspects fled the scene with laptops, cellphones and cash,” adds Nevhuhulwi.

Investigation ongoing

Police confirmed that while four suspects are believed to have been involved, only one has been arrested at this stage.
