Man in court for panga attack in eMalahleni

A man sustained injuries to his leg and hands after being assaulted with a panga in Old Coronation.

A dispute over a stalled vehicle in the middle of the road ended in a violent confrontation that left two men with injuries from a panga attack in Old Coronation, reports Witbank News.

The man accused of the attack is expected to make his second appearance in the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The incident occurred last Saturday when the victims’ car became stuck.

According to the information received, the accused parked behind the car and approached the victims, asking them to move the vehicle.

One of the men reportedly refused to comply.


Moments later, the accused allegedly attacked one of the men with a panga, slashing open his leg and hands.

The victim said the attacker tried to hit him over the head.

Another man was also injured during the attack.

The accused was arrested a day after the attack and made his first appeared in court on Tuesday.

The case has been postponed to April 8.
