3 workers seriously injured in Durban wall collapse

Investigations are underway after construction workers were trapped and injured in a structural collapse in Berea.

Three construction workers have been rushed to hospitals with serious injuries after a wall collapsed on them at a property on Marists Road in Berea, Durban, today (May 28).

Berea Mail reports that, according to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the incident happened after 09:00. He said initial reports indicated that multiple workers were trapped and injured after the structural collapse.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found that three workers had been injured.

“The people had sustained serious injuries. ALS Paramedics’ ambulances worked to stabilise the injured on the scene before they were transported to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.”

He added that the events leading up to the structural collapse are unknown, however, all necessary authorities were in attendance and will investigate further.
