Police appeal for information after fatal Gauteng shooting
Detectives are searching for suspects after an attack outside a complex in Kempton Park left one man dead and another wounded.
Kempton Park SAPS has launched a murder investigation following a fatal shooting outside Victoria Manor on Kempton Road on the morning of July 24, reports Kempton Express.
According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, the incident occurred before 10:00.
Preliminary investigations indicate that 50-year-old man had stopped his black Toyota Etios outside the apartment complex when a white Honda, carrying two unidentified suspects, pulled up alongside his vehicle.
“CCTV footage shows the suspects opening fire on the victim’s vehicle before stopping a short distance away.
“One of the suspects then approached the victim, who had attempted to flee towards the entrance gate of the complex, and shot him multiple times,” said Ditshego.
The man was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
A 47-year-old man, who was travelling with the deceased, sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was transported to Arwyp Medical Centre for treatment.
Police recovered seven spent cartridges from the scene. Crime scene experts from the Local Criminal Record Centre attended to process the scene.
Investigators have reviewed CCTV footage from the apartment complex and nearby businesses. However, the registration number of the suspects’ white Honda could not be identified, and the suspects’ faces are not clearly visible. Additional CCTV footage is being sourced as part of the investigation.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown and the investigation is at a premature stage.
The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Kempton Park SAPS Acting Station Commander Colonel Motsatsi Lesomo.
Ditshego appealed to anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.
“We understand that some witnesses may fear coming forward. Information can be provided anonymously, and any detail, no matter how small, could assist investigators.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kempton Park SAPS or submit information anonymously through the SAPS Crime Stop line on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS App.
