Bloemfontein man gets 24 years for partner’s murder

Police were called to a Grassland II home following a distress call, where they found an injured and unresponsive woman.

A 47-year-old Bloemfontein man has been sentenced to 24 years’ direct imprisonment for the murder of his 55-year-old partner following a domestic altercation in January 2025, reports Bloemfontein Courant.

Seuntjie Wilson Rosi was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

“Overwhelming evidence resulted in Rosi’s conviction and subsequent sentencing to 24 years of direct imprisonment for murder,” Free State police spokesperson Thabo Covane said.

The case stemmed from an incident in January 2025, when Bloemspruit police responded to a distress call at a residence in Grassland II.

“Upon arrival at the scene, members were directed to the body of a female victim exhibiting slight bruises,” Covane said.

Emergency medical services were called to the scene, where the woman was declared dead.

According to police, preliminary investigations indicated that the woman had been involved in a heated domestic altercation with her boyfriend shortly before her death.

The sentence followed the conclusion of the criminal proceedings stemming from the January 2025 incident.
