Bothaville police have arrested a 32-year-old woman in connection with the alleged murder of a 44-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Kgotsong on Saturday, (September 26), reports Bloemfontein Courant.

According to Free State police spokesperson Palesa Thabana, officers responded to a complaint about a man who had allegedly been stabbed. “On their arrival at the scene of crime, police found an African male lying on the ground. The victim was found with a stab wound on the chest,” Thabana explained.

Emergency medical services declared the man dead at the scene. Thabana said it is alleged that the victim and the suspect, who were former partners, had an argument before the incident. “It is further alleged that the female stabbed the ex-boyfriend with a knife in the chest, fatally wounding the victim,” she said.

The circumstances surrounding the argument and events leading up to the stabbing remain unclear and are subject to police investigation. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene. Police also confiscated the knife allegedly used in the incident and booked it in as evidence.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Bothaville Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder.
