At least R500k worth of saddles stolen in north break-in

Erica Schaser said what concerned her was the fact that she believed that it was a group of criminals stealing horse-related items.

A horse school in the north of Pretoria has asked for resident’s help following a break-in at their premises on Saturday, Rekord North reports.

“They stole about a half million’s worth of saddles,” said owner of The Paddock Erica Schaser.

She said about 13 saddles worth R500 000 were stolen.

“Two of the saddles are micro dotted,” she said.

She said the robbery happened during the early hours of Saturday between 01:00 and 04:00 at the business on the R513 in Akasia.

Schaser said what concerned her was the fact that she believed that it was a group of criminals stealing horse-related items.

This after only a few hours earlier, at around 12:45, criminals attempted a break-in at neighbouring premises.

“Luckily their alarm scared them off and they ran away,” she said.

She also believed that the break-in was carefully planned.

“I have a security guard stationed at my premises and other security measures, making it a difficult task to get inside,” she said.

“They had to carefully plan the break-in to be able to get inside.”

Schaser asked for the help of the residents to keep an eye out for the stolen goods.
