KFC customer finds ‘fried rat’ in meal
An American KFC customer has claimed to have found a fried rat while tucking into a KFC box meal in Wilmington, California.
Devorise Dixon claims to have spotted a “tail” on what he at first thought was a strangely-shaped chicken breast on June 10. Upon closer inspection, Dixon said it turned out to be a deep fried rat.
“I’ve been feeling weird ever since,” Dixon said on his Facebook page, which has been inundated with posts about the strange find from Facebook user around the world.
KFC later denied it served Dixon a fried rat. In a response to a comment regarding the incident, KFC said: “KFC takes customer claims very seriously, and we are continuing to investigate this matter. Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this claim. We are aggressively trying to reach Mr. Dixon, and we request that he return to the restaurant with the product for testing, or call us at 1-800-Call-KFC.”
In another comment, KFC stated that it has been trying to contact Dixon, who is not cooperating.
“KFC has made various attempts to contact this customer, but he is refusing to talk to us directly or through an attorney. Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this allegation. We have extended the opportunity to have an independent lab evaluate the product at our own expense, but the customer refuses to provide the product in question.”
Last month, KFC apologised to the public after the emergence of a video and pictures of staff members at an outlet in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, washing pieces of chicken on a concrete floor.
This came after a Facebook user posted images of staff at the branch taking chicken out of containers, placing it on a concrete floor and hosing it down. At the time, KFC said it was an isolated incident involving only that branch and that a number of facts needed to be clarified.
