Mark your calendar for an unmissable car event on August 6

Zwartkops Raceway is set to captivate British and Italian car enthusiasts at the highly anticipated annual Cars in the Park event.

With 41 years of history, this year’s show will feature an impressive display of 2 500 cars, attracting an estimated 10 000 visitors. Don’t miss the chance to witness a Le Mans-winning 1953 Jaguar C-Type and other remarkable vehicles, including a rare 1934 MG NA and Triumph classics.

Calling all Jaguar fans! Prepare to be dazzled by the meticulously crafted 1953 Jaguar C-Type. Built by Jaguar enthusiast Kobus van Wyk, this iconic car boasts a special Le Mans spec 3.4-litre six-cylinder twin cam engine, complete with three twin-choke Weber carburetors. With precise attention to detail, Kobus’s son Conrad painstakingly recreated the intricate tubular chassis and suspension components, ensuring an exact replica of the original Le Mans-winning machine driven by Duncan Hamilton and Tony Rolt.

Get ready for a spectacular showcase of Colin Lazarus’s personal collection. Among his prized possessions, Lazarus will exhibit a special 1960 Jaguar 150S and the exceptionally rare Project 7 Jaguar, alongside three generations of Ford GT supercars. The event will also feature the captivating 1934 MG NA owned by devoted MG enthusiast Robin Clarke, showcasing the distinct six-cylinder MG engine.

Jaguar Project 7 is being shown at Cars in the Park by Colin Lazarus.

Join in celebrating MG’s centenary with a glimpse of one of the few remaining MGA Twin Cams from the early 1960s in South Africa. As Triumph marks its 100th year, anticipate the presence of vintage Triumph models like the 1928 Triumph Super Seven and the 1947 Triumph Roaster. The display will encompass various revered Triumph models, including the beloved TR2s and TR3s from the 1960s, as well as the TR4s, TR5s, TR6s, TR7s, and the sophisticated Triumph Stag that debuted in 1970.

Two other iconic marques also celebrate significant milestones. The Ford Cortina, which revolutionised the company’s presence in South Africa, commemorates its 60th year since its launch in 1962. Expect over 100 examples of these legendary Fords on display. Additionally, the Chevrolet Firenza Can Am, a limited-edition V8-powered homologation car developed in South Africa, marks its 50th anniversary. Only 100 units were ever produced, boasting impressive performance figures far ahead of its time.

This year also marks four decades since the launch of the remarkable Alfa GTV6 3.0 by Alfa Romeo SA. These rare South African models, produced in limited quantities from 1983, featured six individual Dell’Orto carburettors. Today, a pristine GTV6 3.0 holds a value exceeding R1 million.

Prepare for an unforgettable day at the largest single-day car show in South Africa, Cars in the Park. In addition to the stunning cars, explore over 120 stalls and major motor dealerships, including Lazarus Motor Company, Motus Group, We Buy Cars, and Mit Mak Motors from Pretoria North.
