Celebrate the start of the weekend with a Sloe gin fizz

Indulge in a refreshing sloe gin fizz, blending sloe gin and lemon juice, finished with sparkling water, and garnished with a lemon slice.

Looking for a tangy cocktail to kickstart your weekend? Look no further than the Sloe Gin Fizz.

The key ingredient in sloe gin is the sloe berry, the fruit of the blackthorn bush (Prunus spinosa), which grows wild across Europe and parts of Asia. Traditionally, sloe gin was made by infusing sloe berries in gin along with sugar to create a sweet and fruity liqueur.

Today, various brands and distilleries have developed their own recipes and production methods. While this cocktail looks impressive, it’s super easy to make with just four ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 50ml sloe gin
  • 25ml fresh lemon juice
  • 15ml simple syrup
  • Club soda, to top
  • Lemon twist, for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Method:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Pour in the sloe gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  3. Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to chill the ingredients.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a chilled highball glass filled with ice cubes.
  5. Top the drink with club soda, allowing it to fizz and mingle with the other flavours.
  6. Garnish the cocktail with a twist of lemon for an extra burst of citrus aroma.
  7. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
