Hyundai has whipped the wraps off the updated Exter. The refreshed model sports a new front grille and revised fore and aft bumpers. Likely spec-dependent, new 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are also available. The facelifted Exter also gains a ‘wing-type’ rear spoiler. Two new hues have been added to the exterior colour palette — golden bronze and titanium black matte.

The updated Exter measures 3 830mm in length, making it 15mm longer than the pre-facelifted model – the latter of which we evaluated for a road test in 2024. The width has also increased, from 1 710 to 1 723mm. The wheelbase remains unchanged, at 2 450mm.

Stepping inside, the facelifted Exter features a new dual-tone, navy and grey interior colour scheme. A three-dimensional carbon-look finish has been applied to the facia. A ‘D-cut’ steering wheel and metal pedals are also present. The Exter also gains a dashcam. The touchscreen infotainment system incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety items include six airbags and electronic stability control.

The updated Exterior retains the powertrain options offered with the pre-facelifted model. As such, although Hyundai South Africa has yet to confirm a local introduction date for the updated Exter, we expect the SA lineup will employ the same 1.2l, four-cylinder petrol unit. As a reminder, the Kappa powertrain produces 61kW and 114Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated engine is available with the choice of two transmission options: Five-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT) with the same number of cogs. Hyundai claims average fuel consumption figures of 5.7 and 5.9l/100km for the manual and AMT models, respectively.
