Get your home fit for the festive season
Five tips to get your home ready for the festive season.
The Seeff Property Group says that we spend more than half of our lives in our homes, and it should be a place of refuge where you can relax, but also feel inspired.
While it may have been a challenging year for many, summer is finally here, and the annual festive season is just about upon us. Regardless of how you will be spending or celebrating this year, giving your home a festive makeover might be just what you need for an enjoyable time.
Seeff gives five quick makeovers to get your home fit for the festive season.
Tip 1 – Festive décor – brighten up your home for the summer and festive season with new scatter cushions. It’s a good time to introduce colour into your décor. If you celebrate Christmas, get your tree up, and add lights in the garden for a festive mood. Lighting and a few pieces of tinsel can make a big difference.
Tip 2 – Home-made – often, you can involve your children in making decorative items for your Christmas tree and to decorate around the home, and the Christmas table. These are usually more meaningful. You can even turn this into an annual family tradition and extend it to home-made gifts as well.
Tip 3 – Outdoor attraction – since you are now likely to spend more time outdoors, the holidays is the perfect time to revamp your outdoor space. Add greenery, festive lights, and colourful accents to your patio or garden. A stylish outdoor area can enhance your home’s value and provide a delightful entertainment space.
Tip 4 – Festive food – summer is a great time for healthy eating and more fresh fruit and vegetables. Stock up on all your holiday foods and essentials as soon as possible to leave more free time. A festive meal does not have to cost a lot, and you can simply dress up your food with flowers and sprigs, and tinsel and shiny baubles to the table.
Tip 5 – Going on holiday – start preparing in advance to ensure your home is secured, and insurance up to date. For minimal disruption, consider a house or pet sitter. Don’t forget to let your security company know that you will be away so they can keep an eye on your property, and leave keys with an emergency contact.
