Introducing the Tabernacle Crush

The Tabernacle Crush mixes whiskey's smoothness with the sweet and tangy flavours of peach, mint, and citrus.

The Tabernacle Crush originates in the Southern United States, drawing inspiration from the classic whiskey cocktail tradition and the region’s abundant peach orchards. Its name, evoking images of gatherings and celebrations, reflects the drink’s sociable spirit. Over time, this cocktail has evolved, embracing influences from various French bartending traditions to become the beloved version we enjoy today.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Whiskey (a smooth bourbon or rye works best)
  • 30 ml Fresh peach puree (for the best flavor, use ripe peaches)
  • 15 ml Fresh lemon juice
  • 10 ml Simple syrup (adjust according to the sweetness of the peaches)
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Sparkling water (to top off)
  • Peach slice and mint sprig for garnish

Method

  1. Begin by muddling a few mint leaves gently in the bottom of a shaker.
  2. Add the whiskey, peach puree, lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
  4. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with crushed ice, ensuring a smooth, chilled texture.
  5. Add a splash of sparkling water.
  6.  Garnish with a fresh peach slice and a sprig of mint.
