5 tips to keep breakouts at bay
Breakouts are never welcome, and they always seem to arrive at the worst time - before a big event, cute date or photoshoot. This is how you banish them.
Longing for flawless skin and yet you end up with a glaring pimple on your face?
Give breakouts a break with these five tips from African Extracts Rooibos to help your skin recover and stay healthy in the long run:
- No need to over-cleanse: A misconception that people often have is that because they have oily skin, they need to wash their face more often. However, over-cleansing one’s face can lead to the removal of the oil that the skin actually needs as a barrier to protect it. Over-scrubbing can also change the pH level of one’s skin, and make it even more sensitive, which can lead to more breakouts.
- Wash your pillows regularly: Breakouts have many contributing factors, such as hormones, diet and stress. But we can be proactive by controlling what we can, starting with changing your bed linen regularly and replacing your face towel frequently.
- Vitamin C is your best friend: Vitamin C is key, as it offers antioxidant protection that may help fade dark spots and helps prevents your skin from drying out too much.
- Resist the urge to pop ‘em: The skin has very fine blood vessels, and popping pimples may lead to you injuring those blood vessels in the skin. The less you touch pimples (and your face in general) the better.
- Go natural: Say “no” to make-up for a bit to give your skin the chance to breathe. Applying layers of make-up can clog your pores and make problems worse. There are also plenty of bacteria that can be found on make-up sponges and brushes, so wash sponges and brushes regularly.
