South African star Tyla added to her successful year by winning multiple awards at the MTV European Music Awards.

South African amapiano star Tyla has once again cemented her name in the entertainment industry by claiming multiple awards at this year’s MTV European Music Awards.

The event, which honours talented creatives in music, took place on Sunday, in Manchester, England.

While many of the world’s biggest names wowed crowds with their designer attire, the highlight of the night was South Africa’s moment in the spotlight as Tyla flew the country’s flag high.

Following her success at this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMA30), Tyla has now turned her sights to Europe, walking away with three awards in the categories of Best African Act, Afrobeats, and R&B.

On the night, the singer was accompanied by her younger sister Sydney, who she proudly introduced to her ‘Tygers’ during her acceptance speech.

“For those who don’t know, this is my sister Sydney!” she said before expressing gratitude for her win.

“I can’t believe it. All the nominees are incredible; they have taken Afrobeats so far, and I am so honoured to win this award. I just want to thank my team, my family, and the ‘Tygers’ for voting for me.”
