Boozy Oreo hot chocolate is the perfect way to warm up

Because winter is all about indulgence, we’ve added a generous splash of Baileys for that extra hint of warmth.

Winter may not be everyone’s favourite season, but a steaming mug of hot chocolate with a boozy kick can make those cold, gloomy days a lot more bearable. This boozy Oreo hot chocolate is here to do just that. It’s rich, it’s creamy, and it’s the perfect mix of childhood nostalgia and grown-up indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 500ml whole milk (or your choice of milk)
  • 150g dark chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 50ml Baileys Irish Cream (or liqueur: Kahlúa, Amaretto, or chocolate liqueur)
  • 6 Oreo cookies (2 crushed for mixing, 4 for topping)
  • Mini marshmallows (a generous handful)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • A pinch of sea salt

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, gently heat the milk over low to medium heat. Do not let it boil.
  2. Stir in the chopped dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and sugar. Whisk gently until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Pour in the Baileys (or your chosen liqueur), stirring well to combine.
  4. Crush two Oreo cookies directly into the hot chocolate, stirring until they soften and slightly melt.
  5. Pour the boozy hot chocolate into a heatproof glass or mug.
  6. Add a generous handful of mini marshmallows, nestle the remaining whole Oreos on top, and finish with a dollop of whipped cream.
