Raise a glass to Halloween with this spooky cocktail

There’s no better way to start a Halloween party than with this cocktail, and once you’ve tried it, you’ll see why.

Halloween is the perfect excuse to get creative behind the bar. A well-made cocktail can set the mood for any spooky gathering, and this golden-orange drink is all treat with just the right amount of trick. Served in round glass cups, draped in cobwebs and garnished with creepy-crawlies, it looks like it bubbled up straight from a witch’s cauldron.

Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 100ml orange juice (fresh if possible)
  • 100ml pineapple juice
  • 60ml vodka (or white rum for a sweeter version)
  • 30ml triple sec (or Cointreau)
  • 100ml sparkling lemonade or prosecco
  • A dash of grenadine for colour
  • Ice cubes
  • Halloween decorations (plastic spiders, cocktail skeleton stirrers, cobwebs for table styling)

Method

  1. In a shaker, combine the orange juice, pineapple juice, vodka and triple sec with a handful of ice. Shake well until chilled.
  2. Strain into round glass mugs or goblets. Top with sparkling lemonade or prosecco.
  3. Slowly drizzle a dash of grenadine into each glass – it will sink to the bottom for a layered, eerie effect.
  4. Garnish with Halloween props like plastic spiders on the rim, or serve with cobwebs scattered around the table.
