Why mixing skincare products is a big NO

Mixing products might be trending, but your skin will thank you if you give it a miss.

You’ve seen the ten-step, multiple brand skincare reels trending on TikTok, but the reality is, layering on all those different products doesn’t mean your skin is actually benefiting  – in fact, you are probably doing more harm than good.

When your skincare routine becomes a cocktail of clashing ingredients, your skin’s delicate pH balance pays the price and that will show as:

  • Sudden breakouts
  • Dryness and flaking
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sensitivity and redness
  • Eczema or rosacea flare-ups

To prevent your skin from flaring up, make sure to avoid these four no-nos:

  1. Don’t mix active ingredients (like retinol + vitamin C + acids) unless the brand is very clear about why and how.
  2. Avoid synthetic fragrance, parabens, and sulphates, as they disrupt your hormonal and skin pH balance.
  3. Don’t over-exfoliate – too many scrubs or acids thin your skin barrier.
  4. Never switch brands too quickly – your skin needs consistency to thrive. Be gentle and be kind to yourself and your skin.

Restore skin pH & balance and enjoy that healthy glow everyday with these five must-dos:

  1. Simplify your routine – cleanse, exfoliate gently, hydrate, nourish, protect.
  2. Stick to one clean brand that’s pH-balanced and microbiome-friendly.
  3. Feed your skin with superfoods – ingredients like baobab, marula, cacao, and shea restore vitality. Look for gentle yet effective ingredients
  4. Stay hydrated inside and out. Remember, skin glow begins in your gut.
  5. Listen to your skin’s feedback – irritation is information, not an inconvenience.
