1 boy found dead and another injured in Mpumalanga
A search for two boys who didn’t return home after going hunting was launched by police.
Police in Masoyi, Mpumalanga, are investigating an incident that resulted in the death of one boy (16) and injuries to another (12).
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the two boys went on a trip, possibly hiking or hunting, accompanied by their dogs, on Saturday.
On Sunday, their families became concerned when the boys did not return. Only the dogs came back, prompting them to report the matter to the police.
“Upon receiving the report, the police immediately mobilised resources, and a search operation was launched to locate the missing boys. The search-and-rescue team from the SAPS, along with CPF members and volunteers, joined forces to assist in the search efforts.
“The two were found in some bushes. The 16-year-old boy was found with serious injuries and declared dead at the scene by paramedics, while the 12-year-old boy had sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment,” he says.
Mdhluli says an inquest case is being investigated.
It is not known what happened to the boys. Lowvelder will update readers when more information is available.
