14 Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife provincial reserves open for self drives
As South Africa gradually eases its lockdown restrictions and moves towards reopening the economy, most national and provincial parks opened this week for day visitors – but with strict conditions in place.

In KZN, the iSimangaliso Wetland Park opened its gates yesterday (Monday), enabling self drives and walks in permitted areas.
The Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park and uMlalazi Nature Reserve have opened, as well as other reserves outside the Zululand region.
The 12 others include:
- Didima Resort,
- Royal Natal,
- Giant’s Castle Nature Reserve,
- Midmar Nature Reserve,
- Wagendrift Nature Reserve,
- Weenen Nature Reserve,
- Spioenkop Game Reserve,
- uMhlanga Lagoon,
- Krantzkloof Nature Reserve,
- Chelmsford Nature Reserve,
- Ithala Game Reserve and
- Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve.
All required safety protocols and government regulations are in place, and restrictions apply regarding vehicle occupancy (maximum three per ordinary car), access to certain hides, picnic sites and facilities to restrict crowd gatherings.
Restrictions apply on group gatherings and other Covid-19 protocols.
