2 arrested in Polokwane for child pornography

A joint law enforcement operation ensured the arrest of two men for the possession of child pornography and ammunition.

Two men, living on the same farm in Polokwane, will appear in court today following their arrest on Tuesday for possession of child pornography and ammunition.

While one man was arrested in Bendor, the other was arrested in Roodepoort, outside Polokwane.

The arrests are a result of a joint law enforcement operation that included members from SAPS’ national and Limpopo Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences units, dealing with serial and electronic crime investigations; Polokwane K9 Unit, a tactical response team, provincial Flash, and the provincial corporate communications team.

According to SAPS’ spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the 52-year-old suspect was arrested for child pornography in the parking lot at a shopping centre in Bendor, at about 08:00.

Officers then went to his home, where he lives with his family, to search the premises.

The 23-year-old suspect was found in his room on the farm, in possession of ammunition, and was arrested after police recovered 52 rounds of ammunition, four shotgun rounds, empty cartridges, propellant powder, a panga and knives.

They will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today.
