2 injured in shooting during robbery in KZN
The victims, a security guard and a bystander, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in an incident linked to a robbery.
Two people were shot in a dramatic shooting incident that occurred on Jacob’s Road near Dayal Road in the Jacobs area of KZN, last night.
The victims, a security guard and a bystander, were both struck by multiple gunshots in their upper bodies as suspects involved in a robbery opened fire.
The incident unfolded around 19:00 when paramedics arrived on the scene to find a chaotic situation.
Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says the security guard and the bystander were among several individuals present at the location when the incident occurred.
The bystander, who is reportedly in his 30s, had allegedly intervened to help those being robbed when the robbers fired at him and the security personnel.
“Paramedics treated two men on the scene – one a security officer and the other a bystander. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.
“ALS Paramedics were quickly dispatched to assist in stabilising the injured before they were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care,” adds Jamieson.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear as the police are investigating the incident.
At this stage, it is known that the suspects were engaged in a robbery when they began shooting.
Jamieson says both victims are receiving medical attention, and their conditions remain under close observation.
The public is urged to come forward with any information that may aid the investigation into this violent incident.
