Two killed in Mpumalanga tavern shooting
A man who posed as a patron at a tavern in Bushbuckridge allegedly opened fire on two men before fleeing the scene.
Police in Calcutta have opened a murder case docket following a shooting incident at a local tavern that claimed the lives of two men on Friday (May 22) at about 15:00, reports Mpumalanga News.
“It is alleged that a male suspect entered the tavern and pretended to be a patron. He allegedly drew a firearm and fired multiple shots at two men inside the tavern before fleeing the scene,” said police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo.
Both victims were declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
The motive for the killings is still unknown.
Police are appealing to the public to assist in locating the suspect, and anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or report it anonymously via the My SAPS app.
