2 men arrested in possession of 11 Sassa cards
Two men, aged 25 and 26, who were apprehended for possession of suspected stolen property, will be profiled to determine if they can be linked to any pending fraud cases in the province.
They were arrested during a multi-disciplinary operation conducted by the Provincial Commercial Crime Investigation Unit, Crime Intelligence and bank investigators in the KwaDabeka policing precinct.
Provincial police spokeswoman, Col Thembeka Mbele said, “On the day, police officers proceeded to 32nd Avenue in Clermont where they pounced on two men. The police officers searched the house and recovered items suspected to be used during fraudulent activities. A laptop, card writer, speed point machine, skimming device, five cellphones, sim cards, 11 SASSA cards, 18 bankcards and a diary were seized.”
The diary contained people’s names, account numbers, ID numbers and pin codes, according to police reports.
“It was further discovered that the speed point machine was stolen from a business premises in Cato Ridge,” added Col Mbele.
They were immediately arrested for possession of suspected stolen property. They appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates Court soon.
