2 more appear in court in connection with R85-million SAPS supply fraud

A male and a female were granted bail when they appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court in regards to a R85-million SAPS supply management fraud case.

Ravin Ramlall (38) and Hanisha Chetty (38) were granted R5 000 bail when they appeared on charges of corruption, fraud, forgery, money laundering and theft.

The two joined 42 other accused who are all out on bail, according to Investigating Directorate (ID) spokesperson Sindisiwe Twala.

“The case is with regards to the awarding of the marking and de-marking of SAPS vehicles valued at R56-million and cover quoting valued at R29-million.”

Twala said his directorate was working with the National Police Commissioner’s special task team to arrest and later prosecute one more accused, a lieutenant colonel in the police, who was still on the run.

The matter was postponed to 25 March for further investigation.
