Two men are expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court today after they were arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning when police discovered explosives in their vehicle during a stop-and-search operation on the N1 north in Musina.
Polokwane Review reports that Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said officers were conducting their duties when a vehicle sped past them.
The officers activated their blue lights and followed the car, which eventually stopped near a truck depot.
Explosives found in boot
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, officers found a large black bag in the boot containing 119 blasting cartridges and 24 detonating cord fuses.
Arrests and charge
The two occupants, aged 21 and 24, could not provide a lawful explanation for the explosives and were arrested on the spot.
The pair will face a charge of possession of explosives.
