2nd suspect joins corruption and explosives case involving Mossel Bay K9 officer

An investigation into alleged corruption and possession of explosives linked to a Mossel Bay K9 sergeant has now drawn in a second accused, who remains in custody pending his bail hearing.

A second accused in the case against K9 Langeberg Unit Sergeant, Jacobus ‘JM’ Spangenberg, appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Mossel Bay Advertiser reports that Xolisa Msizi was arrested on Thursday, following Spangenberg’s first court appearance.

Msizi and Spangenberg are facing charges of corruption, fraud, possession of explosives and defeating the ends of justice.

Msizi’s bail application was postponed to today. He remains in police custody until then.

On Thursday, Spangenberg was granted bail of R5 000 under strict conditions.

He will reappear in court on Wednesday, December 3.
