3 dead in KZN murder-suicide

A man is believed to have shot and killed his girlfriend and her sister before turning the gun on himself.

The mid-South Coast community in KZN has been left shaken after two women were shot dead in Umzinto yesterday.

According to an article published by South Coast Herald, reports indicate that a man shot and killed his girlfriend and her sister after a domestic dispute at an undisclosed location in the Umzinto area.

Another woman, believed to be their neighbour, heard the gunshots and ran over to assist.

When she confronted the man, she was shot at but was able to flee the scene and received medical attention.

The man then turned the gun on himself.

KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli was informed of the incident and will visit the victims’ family today to offer condolences to the bereaved family, engage with law enforcement authorities and reinforce the KZN Provincial Government’s commitment to tackling gender-based violence through justice, support for victims and preventive measures.

South Coast Herald is awaiting confirmation and more information from SAPS.
