3 expected in court after woman’s fatal shooting in Roodepoort
Three suspects have been arrested after a woman was fatally shot on the corner of Corlett Avenue and Ontdekkers Road on Monday.
Three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman at the corner of Corlett Avenue and Ontdekkers Road on Monday morning, are expected to appear in court today.
Roodepoort Record reports that, according to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, one suspect was taken in for questioning on Tuesday. It is unclear whether this individual is among the three arrested in connection with the murder.
Victim shot at traffic lights
The victim, identified as 36-year-old Lerato Cathrine Tefo from Kagiso, was stopped at the traffic lights in her charcoal grey Kia Rio when a person climbed out of a white VW Polo, approached her window and fired at least four shots into the car, killing her.
The shooter then got back into the Polo, which sped away.
Speculation of targeted hit
Nothing was stolen from the vehicle, prompting community speculation that the killing may have been a targeted hit.
Police declined to comment on the speculation at the time, saying only that they were looking for four suspects and that the matter was under investigation.
The three arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.
