5 more alleged spike attacks north of Pretoria
It was alleged that some of the motorists were robbed by two suspects hiding in the bushes next to the road.
Five vehicles were damaged in so-called “spike attacks” on Wednesday night, September 8, in the north of Pretoria, according to a local security company.
The attacks reportedly happened near Wintersnest area on the R566 (K8) crossing near the N4, between 21:00 to 23:00.
Security services GAC Risk Solutions issued a warning to motorists on social media about the recent attacks.
“At least five vehicles were attacked by using a stone to bring the vehicles to a stop,” wrote GAC Risk Solutions.
“It’s unknown whether all the vehicles have been robbed but we can confirm that some of the vehicle drivers were robbed by two suspects that popped out of the bushes after their vehicles came to a stop.”
Police could not immediately verify the attacks.
Spokesperson Constable Lindi Mdluli previously said that motorists should report all crimes to the police.
Mdluli was yet to confirm whether the recent alleged spike attacks were reported.
