5 wanted suspects killed in shoot-out with police in KZN
Police have confirmed that numerous suspects linked to serious crimes were killed in a shoot-out during a targeted operation.
Five suspects were shot dead in a gun battle with KZN police officers at an informal settlement in Moorton in Chatsworth, KZN, this morning.
Rising Sun reports that, according to police officials and sources at the scene, the gang was allegedly linked to numerous murders and armed robberies in the province.
One of the suspects was believed to have been a foreign national. It is also believed that two of the suspects were siblings.
KZN police have confirmed that the suspects have been on their radar for various crimes.
Before the shoot-out, police officers received intelligence on the whereabouts of the wanted suspects.
Upon arriving at the informal settlement, the suspects opened fire on police, and a gun battle ensued, leading to the five suspects being killed.
No police officers were injured.
At the time of publishing, forensics teams and relevant authorities were processing the scene, with investigations continuing.
