An ATM bombing led to a shoot-out with police, while some arrests were made and one person was hospitalised, other suspects fled the scene.
One person was injured, and eight suspects remain at large following a shoot-out with police after an ATM bombing in Centurion this morning.
According to Pretoria Rekord, local police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk says the incident occurred around 02:15 at a Sasol garage on Old Johannesburg Road.
Van Dyk reported that about 14 men looted the convenience store, taking cigarettes, soft drinks, and chocolates.
“During the incident, an unknown number of suspects detonated an explosive device at the ATM at the garage,” he says.
The suspects scattered when police arrived, with six apprehended while approximately eight others escaped in a Quantum minibus.
One suspect was injured during the ensuing shoot-out and has been hospitalised.
Van Dyk confirms a thorough investigation is ongoing to track the remaining suspects.
“The South African Police Service is appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation,” he adds.
