Alexandra man dies after being shot multiple times at close range
Two days before Christmas, Morris Mabaso was shot five times near his gate in Far East Bank and later died in hospital.
Morris Mabaso from Alexandra, Gauteng, has died after he was brutally shot in Far East Bank two days before Christmas.
According to Alex News, the shooting occurred on Tuesday near his gate, shortly after 20:00.
Shooting unfolds at Mabaso’s gate
Reports indicate that Mabaso’s wife had just come home in a vehicle, along with her friend. They were met with two suspicious men standing at Mabaso’s gate.
According to the deceased’s relative, Lebohang Ramoepane, one of the men at the gate moved closer to the vehicle and looked inside before withdrawing.
“Mrs Mabaso went into the house and found her husband. She told him that there were two guys at the gate and that they looked suspicious. Mr Mabaso then went to the gate to check what his wife had told him. His wife followed him to the gate, but didn’t approach.”
Mabaso went to the gate and opened it before he was shot multiple times by one of the men, who was described as wearing a hoodie.
His wife, frightened, screamed in terror before rushing into the house to alert other family members of what had just occurred.
“Those guys left after shooting him five times at close range,” Ramoepane said.
She added that Mabaso was rushed to Edenvale Hospital, but unfortunately passed away on the same night.
Suspected repeat offenders in the area
Reports indicate that the two men had been seen outside Mabaso’s gate on several occasions. At one point, Mabaso had chased them away. Some residents in the area suspect that the men are linked to hijacking incidents around the Gautrain station in Marlboro.
This comes amid reports of multiple carjacking incidents involving armed suspects in Alexandra
