Alleged illegal possession of 19 rhino horns: Mbombela court postpones case

The matter against Lowveld resident AB Steyn and Limpopo game farmer Dawie Groenewald was once again postponed.

Schalk Abraham Steyn, also known as AB Steyn, and Limpopo game farmer Dawie Groenewald made another appearance in the Nelspruit Regional Court yesterday.

The matter was postponed again to October 9 to set a trial date.

The case was postponed due to their lawyer not being present due to a crisis.

The duo was arrested together at a property in the Riverside area on July 20, 2021, when they were allegedly found in possession of 19 rhino horns. They were released shortly afterwards on bail of R50 000 each.

The charges against the pair pertain to the illegal possession as well as transportation of rhino horns.
