Mbombela rhino-horn possession case postponed to October

The matter against Lowveld resident, AB Steyn, and Limpopo game farmer, Dawie Groenewald, was once again postponed to due to their lawyer not being present.

Schalk Abraham Steyn, also known as AB Steyn, and Limpopo game farmer, Dawie Groenewald, made another appearance in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Wednesday June 19. However, the matter was postponed again to October 9 to set a trial date. The case was postponed due to their lawyer not being present due to a crisis.

The duo was arrested together at a property in the Riverside area on July 20, 2021, when they were allegedly found in possession of 19 rhino horns. They were released shortly afterwards on bail of R50 000 each.

The charges against the pair pertain to the illegal possession as well as transportation of rhino horns.
