Alleged Mamelodi business robbers to appear in court
Police yesterday arrested five suspects in connection with an armed robbery in which an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
Five suspects are set to appear in the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court tomorrow following their arrest in connection with a business robbery at Mams Mall in Tshwane in January.
According to an article published by Pretoria Rekord, police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says the suspects, aged between 35 and 40, were arrested in Mamelodi yesterday.
“The robbers were nabbed during a successful operation by the Mamelodi East Crime Prevention Unit and Crime Intelligence teams.”
She says during the robbery, which occurred last month, the suspects allegedly stormed a store at gunpoint and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

“During the arrest, police recovered five 9mm replica firearms, one R5 live round of ammunition, four 9mm live rounds, and a cash register.
“All five suspects are expected to appear [in] court tomorrow.”

SAPS provincial commissioner of Gauteng Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni commended the officers involved in the operation.
He praised their efforts in recovering the firearms, which could have been used to threaten and rob people.
