Another postponement in the Zandspruit mob justice case

The Magistrate indicated that the case was very difficult for practitioners to consult and granted Senior Attorney, Martin Gede an opportunity to consult with applicant number 7.

On Wednesday, August 25 the 14 people accused of playing a role in the Zandspruit mob justice incident stood in the dock through the entire bail application proceedings in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court, only to hear about yet another postponement.

Accused number 7, the 39-year-old Joshua Mabotze who was born in Limpopo, was one of the few accused that had his bail application heard by the court on the day.

Before the matter was postponed to Friday, August 27, the Magistrate indicated that the case was very difficult for practitioners to consult and granted Senior Attorney, Martin Gede an opportunity to consult with applicant number 7.

Tebogo Mabula, Mziwamangware Witbooi, Njabulo Zwane, Phakisa Tsengiwe, Maxwell Mpofu, Klaas Masemola, Joshua Mabotze, Alfred Mollo, Everyone Moyo, Phillimon Seemela, Douglas Tshuma, Charles Ramoshia, Phiwe Khubeka and Peter Mufomadi have all been accused of playing a role in the Zandspruit incident.

All 14 suspects are to remain in custody while accused number 12 will be kept at the police station.
