Armed robbery at Heidelberg Post Office

On Monday morning around 9am the Heidelberg Post Office in Voortrekker Street was robbed.

Approximately seven armed men who posed themselves as customers queued outside the post office doors.

After the men entered, they detained the staff with weapons and robbed the Post Office of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Shots were fired as the men left and according to information they fled in a white Toyota Corolla and a silver Etios.

No post office staff were injured during the robbery but one man standing in line was shot in the leg.

Paramedics treated the wounded man at the scene after which he was taken to hospital.

Police are investigating.
