Assault rifles, grenades and more found in Krugersdorp veld
While collecting firewood in a veld in Krugersdorp, people stumbled upon stun grenades as well as AK-47s.
Firearms, ammunition, hand grenades and more were found buried in a veld in Krugersdorp on Thursday October 21.
Colonel Dimakatso Sello said in a statement that at about 10:00 that day, people were collecting firewood in the veld when they found a pack of stun grenades.
“The police were notified and the relevant police departments were mobilised immediately.”
Colonel Sello described in detail that police recovered four AK-47s, 20 hand grenades, two 9mm firearms, ten detonators and 16 AK-47 magazines with 480 rounds of ammunition. They also found a sealed box that contained 700 rounds of ammunition.
It seemed that the firearms and ammunition had been buried there quite a while ago.
The Krugersdorp Police opened an enquiry docket, and an investigation is underway.
