Bellville woman in court for sister’s decapitation

A 63-year-old Western Cape woman is facing a murder charge after the gruesome discovery of her older sister’s body.

Alleta Rose (63) appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with the murder of her 79-year-old sister Constance Scholtz.

Rose was arrested on Friday after Scholtz’s decapitated body was discovered in the victim’s David Street home in Bellville South on Thursday at 21:00.

According to the charge sheet, Rose allegedly assaulted Scholtz before decapitating her and removing her hands.

Western Cape NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says during her court appearance, Rose indicated that she does not intend on applying for bail.

Ntabazalila adds that the matter was postponed to next Monday for a Legal Aid application.

Captain FC Van Wyk, the spokesperson for the Western Cape police, confirms the discovery of the body.

“Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. The motive forms part of police investigations,” he adds.
