Body of baby with burn wounds found near Benoni

Police are looking for information that can lead them to the person responsible for the death of a one-month-old baby in Etwatwa.

The Etwatwa police are calling on anyone with information to come forward after a local farmer discovered the body of a one-month-old child at Thulani Section on May 5.

According to Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Khensani Mathebula, the farmer told police that he noticed a dumped black refuse bag in the veld on May 3 but he didn’t look inside it until two days later.

“He discovered the body of a child with burn wounds, seemingly from boiling water. The body was taken to a government mortuary,” says Mathebula.

A murder case has been opened at the Etwatwa Police Station.

The Etwatwa SAPS station commander, Colonel Molatelo Maoto, is appealing to anyone who might have information about the death of the baby to contact Etwatwa SAPS on 071 676 7325 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
