Body of missing KZN man found with throat slit

The man who was last seen on Friday is alleged to have been hijacked before his body was found in a field.

The body of a man who had been reported missing was found in a field not far from the R68 road near the Glencoe prison, Shroeders Hope, KZN.

On Friday, Hennie Maritz, thought to be in his early 70s, was reported missing after leaving for Dundee from Hattingspruit in a white Nissan bakkie owned by his employer.

When he did not return, a search was launched. His body was later found.

Glencoe SAPS says his throat had been cut and that an investigation is underway. It is assumed that he was hijacked and robbed of the bakkie he was driving. The vehicle is a white NP 200 bakkie, NDE 19636 (Nissan).

Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station.
