Bogus Brakpan cops in cuffs

Trio arrested for impersonating police officers.

Pretending to be officers of the law landed three men in hot water with actual law enforcement when they were stopped by the police in Brakpan last week.

The trio, travelling in a white Nissan NP300 bakkie, was arrested by members of the Ekurhuleni SAPS Task Team on Heidelberg Road (R23) following a tip-off last Wednesday evening.

“Members stopped the vehicle and the three occupants were searched. Police found a set of blue lights, reflectors, two sets of number plates and R1 rifle ammunition,” said Brakpan SAPS spokesperson Captain Pearl van Staad.

The men were arrested for impersonating police officers.
